Loss in weight

The loss-in-weight feeder is a fully electronic weighing system, specially designed for the continuous dosing of additives with high dynamic accuracy, including the critical stage of refilling the weighing container, with flow rates from 2 tons/hour to 50 tons/hour.

The operating principle of an LIW system involves repeated static weighing of the product container to determine and regulate mass flow. The product container is gradually emptied, and the relationship between the weight loss and the discharge system speed provides the quantity signal, which adjusts the dosing rate to the required value.

The product container empties slowly, and once a preset value is reached, it needs to be refilled. The controller automatically switches the system to "filling mode". In filling mode, the control system uses historical values to maintain the correct relationship between the discharge speed, the required dosed amount, and the container's contents. Based on the acquired historical data, the correct discharge speed is determined in relation to the required dosed amount and the hopper content. Once the weighing container is refilled, the system returns to normal operation, ensuring accuracy even during the LIW filling phase.
